Safeguarding Guidance

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people are our highest priority. As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all applicants must provide information to help us ensure a safe recruitment process, in line with the statutory guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

What We Require from Applicants:

  • Disclosure of any criminal convictions or cautions that are relevant to working with children or vulnerable groups. This includes any offences that are not “spent” under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
  • Full disclosure of any investigations, disciplinary actions, or professional conduct concerns related to child safeguarding or behaviour.
  • A complete and accurate employment history, including all roles involving work with children or vulnerable adults, and explanations for any gaps.
  • Confirmation of your right to work in the UK.
  • Provision of referees who can confirm your suitability to work with children.

Pre-Employment Checks:

  • We will carry out enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks on all successful candidates before appointment.
  • We will verify your identity, qualifications, and professional registrations (e.g., QTS, TRA checks).
  • References will be requested and verified, including a reference from your current or most recent employer.
  • We will also check for any sanctions or restrictions imposed by professional bodies.
  • A professional social media check will take place to reduce risks to reputation, confidentiality breach and data security. The check identifies a candidate's online presence to look for negative behaviours such as bullying, racism, nudity and excessive bad language.

Important Notes for Applicants:

  • It is your responsibility to be truthful and transparent in your application. Failure to disclose relevant information or providing false information may result in your application being rejected or termination of employment.
  • We follow safer recruitment procedures strictly to protect children and ensure a safe working environment for all.
  • If you have any concerns or require support during the application process related to safeguarding information, please contact our recruitment team.
